New Coastal Land for Louisiana? Brad Barth on the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion
Re-plumbing the Mississippi River: Can we restore the delta?
On the first 2020 episode of Delta Dispatches, Simone and Jacques speak with Brad Barth, Operations Assistant Administrator for Lousiana's Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) about one of the state's cornerstone but controversial restoration projects: the Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion. The CPRA recently completed modeling that showed this project -- which would divert sediment laden waters into subsiding and eroding marshes -- would protect 47 square miles of vulnerable land over 50 years. Big project, big decision. Lots to think about. Only on Delta Dispatches!
