USA - Latest edition of federal duck stamp available for purchase
The 2020-21 Federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp – commonly known as the duck stamp – went on sale Friday, giving hunters, philatelists and anyone who cares about migratory birds and other wildlife an easy way to help conserve critical habitat.
Heralded as a stalwart of U.S. conservation programs, 98% of proceeds from sales of the stamp are used to acquire and protect vital wetlands which support hundreds of species of migratory birds, wildlife and plants.
“Purchasing (the stamp) is a great way to support conserving America’s waterfowl and wetlands,” said U.S. Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt in a statement. “Each purchase directly funds restoration of migratory bird habitats and has supported millions of acres across the country since inception.”
This year's stamp features a pair of black-bellied whistling ducks painted by Eddie LeRoy of Eufaula, Alabama. LeRoy's art was selected in a juried competition last September.
