USA - Have you voted in the ASBPA Survey? Coastal management challenges to inform national research investments

USCRP and ASBPA have released a survey to evaluate coastal practitioners’ roles and responsibilities, management challenges, and preferred methods of data and tool delivery. The survey will be open between November 2019 and April 2020. The results of this short <10-minute survey will inform USCRP coastal research investments and guide future ASBPA S&T activities (this is part of our 3-year strategic plan). ASBPA’s Science & Technology Committee will publish white papers on each topic to provide science-based guidance for policy makers.

Coastal Management Challenges to Inform National Research Investments

This 9-minute survey is the first step to evaluate stakeholders' most pressing coastal management challenges (problems and needs).  Please share what problems you and your organization feel most ill-equipped to deal with in your day-to-day duties and which tools you most need to address these challenges.  We'd also like to begin to understand where you go to find technical information and data.  The results are critical to help us invest in useful research, tools, and resources to address today's most pressing coastal challenges.

This survey will remain open until April 1, 2020.  The next step will be a follow up survey in June 2020 to take a closer look at some specific coastal management tools.

Thank you from the U.S. Coastal Research Program (USCRP), the USGS Coastal and Marine Hazards and Resources Program, and the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA).

All questions are optional. Please submit as much information as time allows. Your responses can be edited if you return to the survey from the same device.

All responses to the survey are anonymous. However, if you include your email (optional), we will send you a copy of the survey summary. Your email will not be distributed or included in any dissemination. The summary of survey results also will be posted to the USCRP website in late spring 2020.

Please share that you voted on social media too!  Finally, if you are not a member of USCRP please sign up HERE.

If you have any questions about this survey, please contact Nicole Elko at  Thank you in advance for your participation.
