St. Martin Parish Council to discuss GOMESA funds bond issue
ST. MARTINVILLE — The St. Martin Parish Council will meet Tuesday night to discuss a proposed $10.25 million bond issue based on Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act funds.
The GOMESA money would be used in part to replace the pontoon bridge at Butte LaRose with a permanent span. Barring any issues, funds from the bond issue could be ready by mid July.
The council also will hear an update on the Louisiana legislature’s session. Former Parish President Guy Cormier, now serving as executive director of the Police Jury Association of Louisiana, will make a presentation to the council on the association’s efforts in Baton Rouge.
The council also will consider a resolution to accept the low bid and issue a contract to JC Construction for the Cade Park Pavilion, Basketball Court and Paving project.
In other business, the council is scheduled to:
Consider an ordinance setting the speed limit at 25 mph on Delaloire Road.
Consider revising its ordinance dealing with nuisances.
Consider a resolution to allow for an agreement between the parish and the St. Martin Hospital to provide medical services to inmates at the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center.
Consider a resolution in support of an Industrial Tax Exemption for Peppers unlimited of Louisiana.
The St. Martin Parish Council will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Carroll J. Fuselier Meeting Room of the parish annex building, 301 W. Port Street in St. Martinville.
