SC - Charleston beach towns will maintain checkpoints after McMaster's impending order

CHARLESTON, SC (WCIV) — The City of Isle Palms, the Town of Sullivan's Island, the City of Folly Beach, and the Town of Edisto Beach all came together to make a unanimous decision about their public beach accesses and checkpoints on Sunday.

State senators in South Carolina reported that they expect  Gov. Henry McMaster to reopen all public beach accesses.

All four beach towns said they will continue their entry checkpoints and access restrictions.

"There is no evidence from medical professionals that indicates that the threat of COVID19 in our region has diminished. South Carolina is still in the acceleration phase and even with the reduction in growth of new cases, new cases could begin to grow quickly if social distancing restrictions are lifted," they said in a joint press release.

Charleston County Parks will also remain closed and the collective municipalities are working closely with Charleston County and Colleton County governments in this regard.
