Port of Corpus Christi will back Phillips 66 offshore project

Phillips 66 is the newest player announcing their run in the race for offshore oil exports. And the Port of Corpus Christi is supporting the project after voicing strong opposition against a similar operation with Trafigura.

In a written statement, the port said the Phillips 66 project will generate economic benefits for the region while ensuring a safe and environmentally sustainable solution for the export of oil.

However, the port opposed the Trafigura project saying it poses an environmental risk and could also adversely affect Corpus Christi’s air attainment status.

So why did the port decide to back the Phillips 66 proposal? That’s what we’re working to find out.

We’ll have more coming up later today on KRIS 6 News.
