New Hampshire eager to join Northeast offshore wind club

January 8 (Renewables Now) - New Hampshire Governor Christopher Sununu has approached the US federal government with a request to set up an intergovernmental offshore renewable energy task force for the state.

In a letter to the US Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) sent last week, Sununu explained that the task force would facilitate coordination between federal, state and local governments regarding commercial leasing proposals. If the proposal is accepted, the state could make the first step in the potential development of large-scale offshore wind projects along its coastline, similar to nearby states like Massachusetts.

Last month, bids in a competition for three offshore wind leases off Massachusetts reached USD 405.1 million (EUR 353.7m).
