Massachusetts: Outer Cape faces more coastal erosion this winter
PROVINCETOWN — There is no clear way to predict what the winter will bring for coastal erosion.
It depends, in many ways, on how many nor’easters blow through and how strong they are. Unlike the Atlantic hurricane season, where forecasters can make an educated guess on how many storms the season may bring, winter storm prediction can be much more difficult.
“It’s really tricky,” said Mark Borrelli, a coastal geologist at the Center for Coastal Studies. “People are working on it, but there are so many variables.”
