MA - BOEM completes key report on $2B Vineyard Wind

A federal agency has released a long-awaited supplemental environmental review for the 800-megawatt Vineyard Wind project that could begin service in 2023, Kallanish Energy reports.

The new report was completed by the U.S. Interior Department’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management for the $2 billion project off the south coast of Massachusetts in the Atlantic Ocean.

The document is a permitting milestone and a major step forward for the project.

Vineyard Wind LLC intends to build the first large-scale wind energy project in the United States.

The company, based in New Bedford, Massachusetts, is 50% owned by the Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and 50% by Avangrid Renewables.
