IN - Indiana Dunes offers virtual hikes to keep in touch with nature

Park rangers with the Indiana Dunes National Park Service in Northwest Indiana are working hard to connect people with nature, virtually.

They have recorded a series of videos, which can be found on the Facebook page and website.

“We brainstormed some ideas about what to do to be productive while we were at home. Obviously, virtual was a big deal,” said Interpretive Park Ranger J.P. Anderson. He recently posted a video of himself hiking along the Dune Ridge Trail in Beverly Shores. The video is on Indiana Dunes National Park’s Facebook page.

The rangers hike the trails and narrate their experiences — teaching along the way. There are videos posted of hikes along Mount Baldy and the Heron
