FL - Task force forms to voice concerns over Army Corps coastal resiliency study

A stakeholder task force met for the first time Tuesday to discuss concerns over a multibillion-dollar study to protect Collier County’s shorelines against storms and erosion

A stakeholder task force met for the first time Tuesday to discuss concerns over a multibillion-dollar study to protect Collier County’s shorelines against storms and erosion.

The group comprises members of various communities and municipalities within the footprint of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plan, the Collier County Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study.

County Commissioner Penny Taylor chaired the stakeholder meeting and said the group’s charge is to evaluate citizen concerns and public comments and present them to an upcoming technical task force.

“Then, with the assistance of the technical advisory group of subject matter experts, create a final report to present to the Army Corps,” Taylor said. “The earliest they need it is July of 2023.”
