EDITORIAL: Where the sand money is being spent

Wow, do we enjoy fighting about sand in this area.

First, we were fighting about who gets to sit where on the beach. Now, we want to fight about where we are going to put our new/reclaimed sand.

It’s expensive to put sand on the beach. We’ve been reminded of that multiple times during the fight over where sand should be placed around East Pass.

Yes, something needs to be done to give the public better access to the beaches on Holiday Isle. And the more money Okaloosa County spends nurturing these beaches, the more appropriate it is for beach accesses to become available to the public. We’ll tackle that issue in future coverage.

But the focus of this writing is stopping the flow of misinformation about the cost of the project that will dump more than 200,000 cubic yards of sand across Okaloosa County beaches.
