Coastal Zone Management to focus on eastern Michigan erosion issues
TAWAS CITY – The Michigan Coastal Zone Management Program will focus efforts on areas of eastern Michigan along Lake Huron, according Commissioner Donald Jay O’Farrell.
O’Farrell outlined the program during a Nov. 21 meeting of the Iosco County Board of Commissioners. He said he was informed of the program during a Nov. 14 meeting of the Michigan Council on Governments.
He said the program works to fix coastal areas and deal with erosion issues on public and private land.
“The state has been dealing with the west side of the state with problems of erosion, now it looks like they are flipping over here to the east side,” he said.
