Long weekend typically brings a rush of tourists that the West Coast wants to stay home

The West Coast won’t be rolling out its usual red carpet to tourists this weekend.

May-long has traditionally served as the launching pad for a thriving tourism season, but COVID-19 concerns have local officials pleading with visitors to stay away, for now.

Just as they did in the days leading up to Easter, West Coast leaders are expected to announce a unified message this week urging tourists not to visit during the upcoming Victoria Day long weekend.
